Look at My Pinterest Board and Tell Me It's Pretty!

One paper down in class, another right on its heels. This time, we will be looking at knowledge sharing and tracking as well as what all of this means for intellectual property rights. For this project, I will be tracking how my Career board on Pinterest is shared. If you would like to take a look at my board, you can find it here. It is full of tips on how to choose a career path, how to cultivate a positive team culture, how to answer the most common questions asked during interviews, etc. I felt like it was a broad enough topic that most, if not all, who interact with the board will get at least one valuable piece of information out of it that they can use in their everyday lives.

Last summer I took EME6356, Learning and Web Analytics, and many of the topics that we discussed in that class as well as one of the projects that we completed seem to be very applicable to this assignment. If you are in FSU's ISLT program and it is offered again, I would highly recommend taking it. I am not that great with statistics myself, but I do have an immense interest in it and taking that course made me a lot more cognizant of the data that I produce every day of my life, sometimes without even knowing it, and what happens to and with that data. I think that from this project, I will gain an even better understanding of how knowledge (or data, however you want to put it) travels through social media networks and what use it might be put to.

    I checked it out, and it is pretty! The class you suggested sounds interesting, do you have any tips for tracking the the Pinterest board? and promoting it?

If there is one social media tool that makes me want to bang my head against a wall, it's Facebook. Week 12 in Review: Produsage, PLNs, Reflections, and Extensions

My semesters seem to be one-upping each other in terms of craziness this year. This one has been the wildest yet by far. Not only have we had to cram in a lot of information in only 12 weeks, it also kind of feels like the world has been convulsing around us while we've been trying to complete our coursework. For me personally, my workload at my job has also tripled since mid-March when the stay-at-home orders began. I can't say that I wish this summer had been different because it was a learning experience, I just wish it hadn't been as stressful! This past week we had to complete not one, but two projects. If there's one thing I hate about finals weeks, it's that it feels like everything piles up all at once. It makes it hard to manage your time wisely, especially when you work full-time like I do. The State of Digital Literacy in America

One of the topics that we are discussing in class this week is digital citizenship, which somehow I have never even heard about, much less discussed in an academic setting. I'm a little aghast at that, seeing at how fitting it is for our current times. It makes me wonder if media literacy should be mandatory in America's K-12 schools and/or a required class as part of the liberal arts curriculum at the college level. I do not think that it is currently even mentioned in classes at all, and it is very apparent in the way that some people act on social media.  Take, for instance, parents who will post pictures of their infants and older children on social media when they are performing innocent but vulnerable behavior like taking a bath or learning to use the toilet properly for the first time.
